Software

 

The implementation of all projects of NALIS Foundation is based on the following software products:

 

KOHA – integrated library system for the management of print collections and offers:

  • Modules for acquisitions, circulation, cataloging, serials management, authorities, flexible reporting, label printing, multi-format notices, offline circulation for when Internet access is not available.
  • Powerful searching and an enhanced catalogue display that can use content from Amazon, Google, LibraryThing, Open Library, and Syndetics, among others.
  • Conformity to various library standards and protocols such as MARC 21, UNIMARC, z39.50, SRU/SW, SIP2, SIP/NCIP, ensuring interoperability between Koha and other systems and technologies as well as copy cataloguing.
  • Web-based Interfaces – Koha’s OPAC, circ, management and self-checkout interfaces.
  • Interface in English and Bulgarian.

 

NALIS Repository - for the management of digital collections (developed by NALIS Foundation)

  • Enables the management, access and long-term preservation of the digital content.
  • Provides facilitated search in a customisable and user friendly interface.
  • Based on the open source software DSpace.

 

UniCat – for the discovery of the library resources of the NALIS founders and associate members, namely catalog records, digital items, institutional repository, institutional bibliography and other collections and resources. It is based on the open source software VuFind and provides:

  • Facilitated search (from a basic search box and advanced search by clicking on the various facets of the results).
  • Live status of the searched item.
  • Similar results list.
  • Browse for Resources.
  • Persistent URLs.
  • Interface in English and Bulgarian.
